This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) sets out how PowerMouse Press LLC also known as Storypillar, (referred to as “Storypillar”, “we”, or “our”) uses and protects any information that you as the parent/guardian or your child (referred to together as “you” or “your”) provide when accessing, browsing, subscribing, or otherwise using Storypillar’s website (www.storypillar.com) (the “Website”).
Storypillar is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Any personal identifying information, such as name, e-mail address, or other information (hereinafter referred to as “Personal Information”) you provide when using the Website will only be used in accordance with this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy describes the type of information Storypillar may collect from you or that you may provide when using the Website, as well as Storypillar’s practices for collecting, using, keeping, protecting, and/or disclosing any Personal Information.
This Privacy Policy follows the rules set by the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other applicable laws. For consistency and clarity, the policy distinguishes between Children (defined here as those aged under 18), and their parents/guardians.
Information We Collect & How We Use It
Storypillar is a free service that does not require registration or membership. Parents/guardians and their children can enjoy the content and features in Storypillar (website, podcast, and social media) without directly providing contact information. That includes reading information and listening to Storypillar podcast episodes. However, when parents/guardians wish to contact us or submit questions and suggestions on behalf of their child, information is collected as follows:
-
All correspondence must be submitted by parents/guardians using the online form included on this Website.
-
When parents/guardians submit questions and suggestions on behalf of a child, the online form requests only the child’s first name, age, and state or country where they live. No further information is requested about the child. In addition, the online form requests the full name and email address of the parent/guardian. All correspondence happens between Storypillar and the parent/guardian.
-
If a child’s question or suggestion (in written, picture, or audio recording form) is selected to be featured in a podcast episode, on Storypillar’s website, or in Storypillar’s social media, Storypillar will contact the parent/guardian to verify their status as guardian and request their approval and consent. This will take the form of either a recorded phone call between Storypillar and the parent/guardian or a consent form that the parent/guardian signs and returns. Upon completion of this parental verification/consent step, Storypillar has the option to use (or not use) the recording, text, or picture in a Storypillar podcast episode, on Storypillar’s website, or in Storypillar’s social media and will use only the first name, age, and state or country of the child.
-
Storypillar will use the parent’s/guardian’s contact information to inform them of when their child’s question/suggestion will air/appear. Parents will be given an option to join Storypillar’s email list.
-
In addition to the above, if you fill out one of our contact forms, the information you provide will be stored in our customer management software and/or email. If you request to join our email list, your email address will be stored in our email management system, and never shared with any third parties.
Choices and Access to Children’s Information
Parents/guardians may review:
-
The information we have on their child.
-
Any material from their child that appears on our Website, social media, or in a podcast episode.
-
The contact information we have collected from the parent/guardian.
The parent/guardian may request that any or all of that information be deleted from our records. To review, update, or delete information related to a parent/guardian or child, please email us at info@storypillar.com.
You may also send your request to the mailing address listed below. To protect your child’s safety, we ask for proof of your identification. We may deny access if we believe there is a question about your identity. All requests for materials to be deleted or removed will be processed in full within seven (7) business days of the request being received and proof of identification completed.

Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (Effective January 1, 2023)
Under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (“VCDPA”), certain businesses must give consumers the ability to access, control, and delete personal data that the business collects about them, or that consumers have otherwise provided. Consumers have the right to obtain a copy of data the consumer has previously provided, in a usable format “to the extent technically feasible.”
Virginia consumers can opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of their personal data, or profiling those results in the business providing or denying “financial and lending products, housing, insurance, education enrollment, criminal justice, employment opportunities, health care products, or access to basic necessities, such as food and water.”
Utah Consumer Privacy Act (“UCPA”) (Effective December 31, 2023)

The UCPA defines “Personal Data” as information that is linked or reasonably linkable to an identified or identifiable individual. Data that cannot be linked to a consumer and publicly available information and the processing of personal data for purely personal or household purposes are excluded from the UCPA. Data controllers must provide consumers with reasonable, accessible, and clear privacy notice. Under the CTDPA, Connecticut consumers are provided with (a) the right to access; (b) right to correct; (c) right to delete; (d) right to data portability; and (e) right to opt out of the sharing of any Personal Data.
The CTDPA defines a “Consumer” as a Connecticut resident and excludes persons acting in a commercial or employment context. The “Sale of Personal Data” refers to the exchange of personal data for monetary or other consideration by the controller to a third party.
Personal data excludes any deidentified data or publicly available information, where publicly available information means information that is lawfully made available through government records or widely distributed media and a controller has a reasonable basis to believe a consumer has lawfully made available to the general public.
Colorado Privacy Act (“CPA”) (Effective July 1, 2023)
Businesses must provide consumers with clear privacy notices and conduct data protection assessments for any personal data processing that presents a heightened risk of harm to consumers. Consumers are afforded the right to opt out of the processing personal data for targeted advertising or for the sale of personal data and provides a “user-selected universal opt-out mechanism.”
“Consumers” are defined as residents acting in their individual or household contexts and excludes individuals acting in a commercial or employment capacity, job applicants, and beneficiaries of someone acting in an employment context from its definition of “consumer.” “Personal Data” is defined to mean information that is linked or reasonably linkable to an identified or identifiable individual.
