Story Submissions
We’re on the hunt for more great Storypillar stories! If you’re a writer or have always wanted to try your hand at writing stories for kids, we’d love to see what you and your imagination can cook up for us.

Here's how it works:
1. Choose one of the story starters below:

2. Write an original short story (approximately 1800-2200 words) that takes about 10-12 minutes to read aloud in a clear voice.
3. Use the following checklist to make sure your story aligns with Storypillar’s mission and vibe:

4. Email a PDF version of your story to info@storypillar.com by Friday, February 27, 2026. Please include “Story Submission,” your name, and the story starter title in the file name and email subject line. (i.e. Story Submission; Sparky McCluckson; Vietnam Story Starter)

5. If your story is chosen...
a. It will be performed in a Season 5 Storypillar episode…hooray!
b. You will be asked to provide an editable version in either DocX or Pages format.
c. You will be compensated $200 (USD). In return, you will be asked to sign a work for hire contract and the copyright for your story will belong to Storypillar.
d. Storypillar’s editing team will make edits to your story. This may include but is not limited to titles, character names, word choice, plot details, etc.
e. We will give you a shoutout during the episode on which your story airs and proudly tag you in our Instagram post.

6. You may want to check out our “About” page to learn about our show’s mission. You may also want to listen to a few Storypillar Full Episode stories to get a feel for their typical vibe and flow. Here are some of our favorites:
a. Dance Like a Chicken: Spotify link; Apple Podcast link; Story starts around 1:35 mins in.
b. Banana Butt and the Magic Stone: Spotify Link; Apple Podcast link; Story starts around 4:15 mins in.

Please Note:
-
You must be 18 or older in order to submit a story.
-
You will be notified whether or not your story is selected for a Storypillar episode within 1 month after submission.
-
Submitting a story does not guarantee it will be chosen to air in an episode.
-
Only stories that actually air in Storypillar episodes will receive compensation.
-
If you’re interested but concerned about appropriation, focus on the SEL theme and physical setting, rather than on the accompanying culture. For example, you could write a story set in a Vietnamese cave about a langur who gets blamed when cookies repeatedly go missing without specifically mentioning an aspect of Vietnamese culture. SP’s writing team would then work in a respectful cultural reference in the non-story portion of the episode.
Feel free to email info@storypillar.com with questions and/or for suggested resources.
